Welcome to my home 2018

This is a recycle/edit of something I wrote in 2015. I liked it so much I thought it was worth rebooting in 2018
-----------
Welcome to my home 2018. Please come in and make yourself comfortable. We have been anxiously awaiting your arrival and I am very happy to be here to welcome you.
I know you have brought a number of gifts for me and my family. Let's not open them all right away, we have plenty of time to enjoy them. I can see that some wrapped so nicely. Some look like they might be very fragile. We'll have to be very careful with them. Are you going to hide some like last year? Please, don't fret over whether I'll like them. I'm going to appreciate anything you've brought, even if I might not be too sure about how to use it right away.
I hope you brought some work clothes with you. We have some projects to accomplish while you're here. Mostly home improvement stuff. I'll show you the list later. I finished it last night. I’ve been puttering with some of the projects and need to get serious, while others are needing to get started. Maybe, together, we’ll accomplish some serious renovations.
Yes, we have a bunch of celebrations planned too. It won't be all work and no play. I’m sure there will be one or two celebrations so special that when we think about them years from now and they will always remind us of your visit. You’ll see our oldest daughter graduate from college and start out in the working world. You’ll forever be remembered as her “graduation year”. She has been looking forward to your arrival for a very long time.
By the way, there are a couple of things around here that have been broken for quite a long time. Some of them I’ve been trying to fix, but just can never get it figured out. Can I ask for your help while you're here? While you’re here, let's fix much as we can and throw away the things cannot be fixed, okay?
I'm sorry, I just realized that I’m being rude. In the excitement of your arrival, I have gotten way too far ahead of myself. You've had a long journey and there is no rush to get started on things. For today, let's just sit, talk and enjoy each others company. I hope that we can do a lot of relaxing and talking while you're with us. Let's try to appreciate our time together. I know it will be over before I realize it.
